Festival of the Dead returns to Balham, bringing a week of storytelling, creativity, performance, community celebration and organised mayhem!
Taking place across local venues during half-term, the festival invites families, adults and the wider community to explore stories and traditions surrounding witches, folklore, ancestors and the changing seasons.
The festival culminates in The Gathering – a large-scale community celebration featuring a lantern-lit procession led by a giant bird and the Rhythms of Resistance Samba Band at The Woodfield Pavilion on Tooting Common.
The evening will feature live storytelling, performances, food and drink, and the return of the hugely popular Silent Disco, which sold out last year – so get your headset booked early!
Alongside The Gathering, the wider Festival of the Dead programme includes creative family workshops and events exploring witches, hags, crones, wise women, mythology and folklore.
Festival of the Dead is created by South London Storytelling, a local organisation bringing people together through live storytelling and community events.
📅 October 24 - November 1 2026
