The Friends of Tooting Common annual Pumpkin Parade ๐๐๐ takes place on Sunday 25th October, 4pm-5pm!
There'll be competitions for the Funniest, Scariest, and Most Artistic carved pumpkins, plus a Fancy Dress competition! There'll be two age groups โ Under 8s, and 8s & Over.
There'll also be a parade of lit pumpkins!

The next Mega Skip Day takes place from 9am this Saturday 17th October, in seven locations around Wandsworth. Skips will close when they're full, or at 12pm โ whichever comes first.
Mega Skip Days are an opportunity for people to dispose of bulky items for free. Large skips are placed in neighbourhoods around the borough for all local residents to use.
The skips are open to residents of the London Borough of Wandsworth only. Proof of address may be required on the day.

A FREE six-week course, put on by Women's Wellbeing Collective, is launching at Balham Library this November, helping women step away from limiting patterns and take a more conscious approach to creating positive changes in their lives.
T.H.R.I.V.E. โ The Neuroscience of Practical Manifestation is grounded in practical neuroscience and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), offering participants tools and techniques to help them make meaningful changes in their everyday lives.
The course will explore six key areas:
Thoughts: Rewiring subconscious limiting beliefs and negative self-talk.
Habits: Moving away from survival mode and developing sustainable routines.
Resilience: Learning to regulate the nervous system and release feelings of overwhelm.
Intention: Training the brain to focus on personal goals and what participants want to achieve.
Visualisation: Using somatic tools to help participants embody their future goals in the present.
Empowerment: Building confidence and taking greater control of their own path.
The course begins on Wednesday 11th November and runs for six consecutive weeks, with sessions taking place on 11th, 18th and 25th November, and 2nd, 9th and 16th December.
Sessions will be held from 10am to 12pm at Balham Library Hall, 16 Ramsden Road, SW12 8QY.
The course is open to women only and is completely FREE, thanks to funding from the People's Postcode Lottery.

The popular annual Trinity Hospice Christmas Fair returns to Balham this November, with a preview evening on Monday 16th November from 6pm - 9pm, followed by the main fair on Tuesday 17th November from 8am - 3:30pm!

Local rugby teams Bec Belles FC and Tooting Bec Old Boys RFC are looking for new players!
With three men's squads, two women's sides, and a vets team, the club welcomes everyone โ whether you're a seasoned pro or have never picked up a ball before. They're also as much of a community off the pitch as on it, with regular club-wide socials and events allowing the teams to come together and celebrate the game.
The Belles are also a fully integrated team of deaf and hearing players, with all training and games accessible to deaf British Sign Language (BSL) users, thanks to voluntary Communication Support Workers (CSW).
Belles train on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the Men train on Wednesdays, all at 7pm on Openview in Earlsfield. The Belles are also holding a special taster training session aimed at all those new to rugby this Thursday 15th October, so do come on down!

Ice hockey is back in Streatham! ๐ The @streatham.hockey Redhawks have made a winning start to the new season, following a successful campaign last year which saw them crowned both Southern and National Playoff Champions!
The local ice hockey team have already secured victories over Chelmsford Chieftains, Swindon Wildcats 2, Solent Devils and Invicta Dynamos, and will be looking to continue their winning streak when they return to home ice at Streatham Ice and Leisure Centre.
The Redhawksโ next home game takes place this Sunday 18th October against Romford Buccaneers, with doors opening at around 6pm and the match starting at 6.45pm.
Fancy going along to support the team? Tickets are priced at ยฃ17 for adults, ยฃ11 for concessions (under 16s and over 60s), or ยฃ50 for a family ticket (two adults and two children under 16).
